The adventure included stops at the National Air Force museum at Wright Patterson AFB, the Boonshoft Museum of Discovery, the Dayton Aviation Heritage National Historical Park, the Wright Bros. Cycle Co., the famous Hamburger Wagon, various parks and, of course, a Cincinnati Reds game.

Rilla had a FUN birthday today! We spent the morning at the Children's Museum and the afternoon playing outside. Rilla enjoyed the farm animal cupcakes Greta and I made for her birthday.

Opening Day!

Today was Calvin's opening day with the Braves. It was a freezing drizzly day, so it was a good thing Greta and Rilla napped in the car. As starting pitcher, Calvin pitched a strong three innings, but unfortunately the Braves pitchers who followed were not as successful. The Braves ended up losing, but it was a good start to the season.

Spring Break in the Smoky Mountains

We just got back from a fun spring break trip to the Smoky Mountains. We spent a morning in Gatlinburg, TN at the aquarium and other fun shops etc... On Greta's birthday we hiked up to a beautiful waterfall which was perfect because she loves to hike and be outside. We enjoyed our nice cabin, and even saw a black bear roaming around the neighboring cabins on our last night there.

Greta turned three this week! She had a fun party with a few friends last weekend. She made "mud wormcupcakes" (from "Max and Ruby") complete with red hot marshmallow squirters and gummy worms. She was SO happy to receive little Max and Ruby figures from one of her friends.

The sunflowers seeds we planted in our Lowes garden planters in April have grown to be taller than Calvin and Greta combined!

Our garden is growing like crazy - we've harvested tons of tomatoes and peppers and made several batches of salsa!

We just got back from a fun trip to Kentucky. The little girls were quite happy for most of the drive. We got to Cumberland Falls just in time to see the Moonbow which is only seen during a full moon.

We spent a beautiful morning hiking around Cumberland Falls Park. After seeing the moonbow the night before, we were treated to a beautiful rainbow in the morning.

We stopped at a drive-in that will be featured on John's favorite show "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives" next month.

Abraham Lincoln

We visited Abraham Lincoln's birthplace - here Rilla sleeps on the lawn near the cabin where he was born.
There's a big memorial built over the original small cabin where Lincoln was born.
A few miles away is Lincoln's first "boyhood" home. He has another one in Indiana.

Emily participated in a two-week theater camp and finished it off with a performance of Aristocats. She was Wacky Cat - an alley cat. It was a great show and we all loved it - especially Greta!!

Recently we've been enjoying the free Saturday morning Lowe's kids clinics where we've made some cute wood projects. Here, we are making bird feeders. The kids get aprons and badges for each week's project. Greta always gets many smiles from Lowe's shoppers as she walks around the store in her apron.

Calvin is on the Phillies this season and after the first four games they are off to a 1-3 start. He is mostly playing first base and has made some great plays. Here are some photos from opening day.
